Hyundai E&C Hillsstate Lee Da-hyun (24) made a grand championship promise.
The Korea Volleyball Association (KOVO) held the '2024-2025 V-League postseason media day' at the Rivera Hotel in Seoul on the 21st. The directors and representatives of the three women's teams (Heungkuk Life, Hyundai E&C, Jeonggwanjang) that advanced to the postseason gathered to share their commitment and goals ahead of spring volleyball.
First, Heungkuk Life's Marcelo Abondanza, ranked first, threw down the gauntlet, saying, “Last Dance.” He is determined to crown the last season of superstar Kim Yeon-koung with a victory. Abondanza explained, “It’s really clear. We don’t know how much this roster will be maintained after Kim Yeon-koung retires. I really want to win with this roster, so I decided to announce 'Last Dance.'
Kim Yeon-koung expressed her strong desire to win the championship match, saying, “I will just win.” She hopes the playoffs will go to the third match, wishing, “I hope it’s full of five sets, five sets, five sets. I experienced it last year, and it wasn’t easy. You’ll know once you try it.” She added with a laugh, “I’m not thinking about the personal MVP. I’ve received a lot already. I’m only thinking about the team victory. If we do well, I might receive the MVP too.”
Second-place Hyundai E&C's Kang Sung-hyung announced his commitment, saying, “I will do my best to aim for another championship.” Kang added, “We’ve worked hard with the players for a year to reach this point, and I want to challenge for the championship again until the end.”
Third-place Jeonggwanjang's Ko Hee-jin announced her commitment, saying, “I will do my best for the fans who love Jeonggwanjang.” Ko stated, “Thanks to the fans who truly love Jeonggwanjang, we’ve made it to the spring volleyball stage for two consecutive years,” and added, “As you all know, our situation is a bit challenging. However, I have a sincere desire to do my best for our fans.”
Ahead of the V-League postseason media day, the KBO League media day was held on the 20th. Players from the 10 clubs made headlines by making various championship promises. Lotte's Jeon Joon-woo (Lotte World) and Samsung's Kang Min-ho (Everland) playfully engaged in a war of words, promising to invite fans to the amusement parks owned by their parent companies. LG's Hong Chang-ki promised a barbecue party at the Gonjiam Resort and installation of LG Electronics products, while SSG's Kim Kwang-hyun pledged to work a part-time job at Starbucks and Starfield as a championship promise.
When asked about her championship promise, Kim Yeon-koung said, “I watched the baseball media day yesterday. However, it seems that baseball has partnerships with amusement parks. Samsung has Everland, Lotte has Lotte World. Since we are an insurance company, we should probably offer insurance products as a promise. Still, I think we should provide good benefits to our fans.”
Following Kim Yeon-koung, it was Lee Da-hyun's turn to talk about her championship promise. She said, “The advantage we can showcase as a company is apartments…” which drew laughter. She continued, “But the price range would be too high. Since we are also in the automotive sector, I wonder if we can get something from Genesis or something similar.”
Finally, Jeonggwanjang representative Yeom Hye-seon said, “I think we can share healthy red ginseng with our fans.” She too presented a promise related to the parent company.
