Representatives of the 10 professional baseball teams announced their championship promises for the 2025 season. From media day, an unseen psychological war among the players was intense.
The KBO held the '2025 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO Media Day & Fan Fest' at Lotte Hotel World in Seoul on the 20th. Each team, gearing up for the new season, has made winning their goal and revealed their championship promises.
KIA's star player Kim Do-young, who won the Korean Series championship last year, said, “We are already thinking about winning as we train, enough to carefully decide on our championship promise.” He added, “We plan to set up a booth for hands-on activities on the day of Fan Fest, like college festivals, with the feeling of the outfits we wore today. A quick-footed rookie has joined this year, and we will have running races and create many memories together.”
Jeon Jun-woo (Lotte) said, “This place where today's event is being held is Lotte Hotel, right? Next door is Lotte World, home to our country's best rides. If we win, I will take fans on a tour of Lotte World.”
Hearing Jeon Jun-woo's words, Kang Min-ho (Samsung) remarked, “I believe the best amusement park in South Korea is Everland.” This drew laughter. He continued, “If we win, all players who make it onto the Korean Series roster will invite 1,000 fans to Everland for a day date. That's a promise we made with the president.”
Hong Chang-ki (LG) expressed, “LG operates the Gonjiam Resort, and I would like to invite fans for a barbecue party,” appealing to the facilities of the parent company. He added, “Moreover, if you purchase LG Electronics products, I, along with senior player (Park) Hae-min, will personally visit to install them.”
Kim Gwang-hyun (SSG) stated, “I don’t remember if I came here and said this in 2022, but I won, and I worked as a barista at Starbucks for a day. This year, along with Starbucks, we will create a day where players work part-time at Starfield and interact with fans,” showcasing his championship promise utilizing facilities of his parent company.
Hanwha revealed a championship promise utilizing Hanwha Life Park, which opened this year. Kim Seo-hyun (Hanwha) said, “Last year, the seniors couldn’t make it to the postseason, so they jumped into the ocean. Seeing that inspired the younger players to stay resolute. Our stadium has the country's first infinity pool, so if we achieve our goal of 3rd place, I would like to jump into the infinity pool with my seniors. Additionally, Daejeon is known for its bread and kalguksu, the city of flour. We will invite fans to make kalguksu and serve them.”
Park Min-woo (NC) mentioned, “If we win, since it's 2025, I would like to invite 25 families to NC Park for a late autumn sports day. And since inviting just 25 families might disappoint other fans, I will make NC Park open for free that day so everyone can enjoy it.”
Song Seung-mun (Kiwoom) said, “Our goal is to achieve an overall championship. If we win the overall championship, we plan to camp with fans at Gocheok Dome. Also, if we make it to the postseason, as a team promise, we will all get together to have a ‘Puig-style’ egg roll.”
Jang Seong-woo (KT) hesitated, saying, “Everyone else is doing something through their parent companies, but we are a telecommunications company... When we first won, it was during the COVID season, and we didn’t play even once in Suwon. If we win, I want to hold a meaningful event in Suwon,” vowing to make a meaningful championship promise in the future. Yang Eui-ji (Doosan) also remarked, “We haven’t decided on a promise yet. In the future, player Kim Taek-yeon will reveal it through YouTube,” promising a later announcement.
