Japanese pitcher Sasaki Roki of the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball completed his debut game.

Sasaki, who garnered attention as Japan's 'monster pitcher,' started as a pitcher in the second game of the Major League World Tour Tokyo Series held at Tokyo Dome in Japan on the 19th.

He played his Major League debut in front of his home fans, pitching against the Chicago Cubs with 1 hit allowed, 5 walks, 3 strikeouts, and 1 earned run over 3 innings. He threw a total of 56 pitches.

From the first inning, he threw fastballs at speeds of 99.5 miles per hour (160.1 km), 99.5 miles per hour, and 100 miles per hour (160.9 km). The highest speed of the day was 100.5 miles per hour (161.7 km) thrown against Suzuki Seiya; however, it was a ball.

Sasaki, another 'Japanese fireballer' of the Dodgers, showcased the power of his fastball in his debut game. However, the challenge lay in control.

He navigated the first inning well with fastballs but issued a walk to lead-off batter Michael Busch in the second inning. He allowed 2 walks in the second inning alone. In the third inning, with one out and runners on second base, he faced a bases-loaded crisis by walking consecutive batters and allowed a walk that forced in a run to Kyle Cutter.

The velocity was impressive, but control wavered. After the game, Manager Dave Roberts noted, "It seems he was very nervous. That’s completely understandable," adding, "The velocity was good, but the control was somewhat disappointing. It seems the nerves affected his control."

After finishing his Major League debut in his hometown, Sasaki said, "I was able to pitch with a better sense of tension than usual. I was happy to pitch in front of Japanese fans, and I felt satisfied to be able to pitch in this special atmosphere unique to this place," adding, "Although there were shaky moments, overall I felt a good sense of it, so I was satisfied."

The Japanese media outlet 'Baseball Channel' remarked, "It was the first Major League appearance in Japan that had both harvests and reflections," adding, "Attention is focused on whether he can lead the Dodgers to become the best in the world after this appearance. The Dodgers celebrated two consecutive opening wins against the Cubs. Pitcher Sasaki, the starter for the second game, successfully completed his Major League debut."
