Gwangju FC will hold its home matches at the Gwangju World Cup Stadium for the 2025 season.

Gwangju officially announced on the 19th that "the administrative procedures for transferring the home stadium from Gwangju Soccer Stadium have been completed, and the home stadium will be changed to Gwangju World Cup Stadium."

Gwangju has pushed to transfer its home stadium to Gwangju World Cup Stadium as the Korea Professional Football League has modified its stadium facility standards. The Gwangju Soccer Stadium has a length of 97m, seating for 7,800 (paid). Starting in 2027, it will not be able to host K League 1 matches according to the 'K League stadium facility standards guidelines' proposed by the league. Additionally, convenience facilities such as booths, restrooms, and merchandise shops have been poorly prepared, causing ongoing inconveniences for fans.

Therefore, Gwangju has been in discussions with Gwangju Metropolitan City, Gwangju City Sports Council, and others to change the home stadium to Gwangju World Cup Stadium, which is well equipped with convenience facilities and a roofing to shelter from rain, enhancing the enthusiasm for cheering.

In the meantime, the last matches against Suwon FC and Anyang were held at Gwangju World Cup Stadium, and all discussions have been completed, so future league matches will also take place at Gwangju World Cup Stadium.

The previously used home stadium, Gwangju Soccer Stadium, will be remodeled for various uses.

First, it will promote training in a more comfortable environment by providing living quarters for the U15 team and expanding the indoor training facility for professional players. It also plans to utilize the space to contribute to the local community, including establishing a history exhibition hall for Gwangju FC and promoting rental business.

Meanwhile, Gwangju Metropolitan City, which approved the change of the home stadium, has been financially supporting Gwangju FC in ways such as the renovation of the soccer center last year and participation in the ACLE street cheering event.

A club official noted, "With the confirmation of the home stadium at Gwangju World Cup Stadium, we will strive to ensure that the fans who come can watch the matches in a more comfortable environment," and added, "The Gwangju Soccer Stadium will prepare various utilization plans to contribute to the local community as a civic club."
