Christian Eriksen (33, Denmark) is looking for a new destination ahead of the expiration of his contract with Manchester United (Man U).
He stated in an interview with Denmark's TV2 on the 18th (Korean time), "There have been no discussions about re-signing with the club, and it looks like I will end up not renewing my contract."
Since the appointment of coach Ruben Amorim last November, Eriksen's position has been significantly shaken.
Eriksen has made only 14 appearances in official matches this season under the new coaching system.
Eriksen, who signed a three-year contract with Man U in July 2022, has recorded 7 goals in a total of 99 official matches.
There is currently an atmosphere that Man U will not offer him a contract renewal.
A native of Denmark, he began his professional career at Ajax (Netherlands) and made his move to Tottenham in August 2013, entering the English Premier League (EPL) stage. He enjoyed his prime at Tottenham, scoring 69 goals in 305 matches, and had a great connection with Son Heung-min, earning much love from domestic fans.
He transferred to Inter Milan (Italy) in January 2020, facing the biggest crisis of his career when he collapsed from cardiac arrest during a Euro 2020 match against Finland in 2021. After undergoing surgery to insert a cardiac defibrillator, he left Inter Milan. In January 2022, he signed with Brentford, marking his return to the EPL. In July of the same year, he signed with Man U, seizing another chance to play at a big club, but the situation drastically changed after the appointment of coach Amorim.
Eriksen said, "I am ready for a new challenge," but noted, "I do not plan to stay in England. I will play abroad for a few more years, and returning to Denmark will be when I end my playing career." The specific next destination has not yet been determined.
