Pohang Steelers and Seongnam FC have exchanged central defender Cho Sung-wook (30) and forward Kim Beom-soo (25) on loan. The loan period lasts until the end of this season.
Pohang Steelers strengthen their defense with the signing of Cho Sung-wook. They proceeded with a reciprocal loan trade, sending Kim Beom-soo to Seongnam. Cho Sung-wook, who joined Seongnam in 2018, made an impression during his debut year by playing in 11 matches. Excluding alternative military service in the K4 League, he has appeared in a total of 64 matches in the K League, scoring 4 goals.
Cho Sung-wook, at 188 cm and 84 kg, has excellent physical attributes, making him strong in aerial duels and possessed of stable defensive skills. Additionally, he has the advantage of asserting himself against opposing attackers by utilizing his tenacious play. With Cho Sung-wook joining, Pohang Steelers' defense is expected to become even more solid.
Cho Sung-wook said, "I have always thought of Pohang Steelers as a good team and a strong team, so I came to Pohang without hesitation," and added, "I will do my best to help the team return to its place, so I hope for a lot of support. I will repay the support with my performance on the field."
At the same time, Seongnam FC strengthened their attacking power on the wings by signing Kim Beom-soo on loan. The Seongnam FC club noted, "Kim Beom-soo can showcase a threatening presence against opposing defenses with his excellent mobility and penetration ability in counterattack situations," and explained, "Especially, he is expected to contribute significantly to the team's strength by providing various attacking options as he moves freely on both sides."
Kim Beom-soo began his career in 2020 at Dongducheon One Team in the K5 League and then played for Dongducheon TDC in the K7 League and Seoul Jungnang Football Club in the K4 League. He gained attention after joining Jeju United in K League 1 in 2022. In 2023, he transferred to Ansan Greeners and played the role of the team's ace for two seasons. Ahead of this season, he joined Pohang Steelers as a free agent. He currently has a record of 76 matches, 7 goals, and 7 assists in the K League.
Kim Beom-soo has drawn attention for his unique career path, having risen from K7 and K5 leagues to the K League 1 stage. His journey resembles that of Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, who started in England's eighth division and made it to the Premier League, earning him the nickname "K-Vardy."
Kim Beom-soo is evaluated as a player who excels in dribbling and breaking through with his speed. Additionally, having already gained experience in K League 2, he has a high understanding of the league and is expected to adapt quickly to blend into the team's strength.
Expressing anticipation for his new challenge, Kim Beom-soo said, "I am happy to play for Seongnam FC, a team with a rich history," and added, "Based on my experience in K League 2, I will adapt quickly and maximize my strengths so that the team can achieve good results."
Meanwhile, Kim Beom-soo completed a medical test at Bundang Best Hospital, the affiliated hospital of Seongnam FC, on the 18th and joined the team training.
