Goyang Sono successfully completed the "2025 Sono Youth Day" for the dream players of Korean basketball.
Sono noted that on the 15th, during the home game against Anyang Jeonggwanjang held at Goyang Sono Arena, it hosted the "2025 Sono Youth Day (SONO YOUTH DAY)" by inviting players from the Sono Skygunners youth basketball academy and distributing sponsorship items along with various events.
Sono Skygunners youth basketball academy strengthens the fundamentals with training tailored to children's levels and improves skills through the know-how of former professional instructors. It also aims to develop children's cooperation and social skills while fostering character.
In addition, Sono actively supported the youth basketball academy by dispatching professional players from Sono to participate in the "1st Sono Youth Vivaldi Park Winter Camp," held from Feb. 19 (Wed) to 21 (Fri) at Hongcheon Vivaldi Park Sono Arena, including conducting one-point classes.
This time, the club held the "Sono Youth Day," inviting 1,000 students from the youth basketball academy, allowing them to enjoy the game, experience the home game operational staff, and participate in a variety of events.
First, the players selected through the preliminary round of ‘Find the Best Shooter’ will compete for the championship on the game day and participate in the shooting ceremony. Additionally, there will be time to create memories with the players, such as 'escort kids' who enter by holding the players' hands during the lineup introduction, and 'Winners Start,' which boosts the players' energy with a high five.
In particular, the youth representatives, consisting of 30 children, had a basketball match against three Sono players (Seo Dong-won, Jeong Seong-jo, Kim Do-eun) during halftime in the event titled ‘Beat the Professional Basketball Players,’ which filled the venue with warm smiles and applause from the audience throughout the 4-minute game, making it the highlight of the event. Additionally, the event provided an opportunity for fans to meet players directly with experiences such as ball staff roles (passing the ball to players practicing shooting), court maintenance mapping, and cheerleader experiences during warm-ups.
Sono Director General Lee Gi-wan, who delivered training equipment to the representatives of each branch, said, "Through events targeted at youth basketball academy students, we hope that not only the children but also their families will feel attachment and belonging to the club, which will eventually expand the club's fan base in the long term," adding, "We will strive to ensure that children in the basketball academy grow healthy both physically and mentally, and actively support the development of franchise stars by nurturing their dreams."
Yang Joon-ho, a child who participated in the event, expressed his feelings, saying, "I was happy to score in the game where the players were playing, and seeing the players up close made me dream of becoming a cool basketball player like my brothers."
