'Road FC's youngest champion' Park Si-won (23, Diamond MMA) has sustained an injury.
Park was scheduled to compete in the upcoming ROAD FC 072 on the 16th at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul. The match was an important bout as part of the lightweight tournament semifinals, with his opponent being Nandinerdan (38, Jeonwook Gym Multi-Gym).
Ahead of this crucial match, Park Si-won injured his back. He sustained the injury while performing daily activities, and a hospital examination revealed that he has received a diagnosis of back pain due to a disc displacement, with a recovery period of two weeks.
The diagnosis submitted by Park Si-won stated, "For about two weeks, physical activities, especially those exerting strain on the lumbar spine, should be restricted, and rest is strongly advised. Continuous treatment is required to manage symptoms, and the long-term prognosis will be determined in the future."
Deputy Minister Kim Dong-wook noted, "Yesterday, on March 13, around 10:40 a.m., I received a call from athlete Park Si-won. He reported that he had an accident while performing daily activities, so I advised him to go to the hospital immediately. After receiving medical care and treatment, he called to say he would monitor his progress. Around 9:40 p.m., he conveyed that he really wanted to compete, but he was not in a condition to do so."
The winner of the match between Park Si-won and Nandinerdan was expected to face Kamil Magomedov for 100 million won and the champion belt. Injured, Park Si-won attempted to participate in the match but is currently in a condition where competing is impossible.
Currently, ROAD FC is holding internal meetings regarding the situation following Park Si-won's injury.
