Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Kim Hye-sung selected the best players by position in Korean professional baseball.
Kim Hye-sung recently appeared on the baseball-related YouTube channel "BASS Voice Baseball," which has more than 280,000 followers on its official social media.
The pitcher was the responsibility of former national team manager Sun Dong-ryeol. During his active years, he was called a "national treasure-level pitcher" and pitched in 367 games in the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), achieving 146 wins, 40 losses, and 132 saves with an earned run average of 1.20. Kim Hye-sung named Samsung Lions catcher Kang Min-ho as the best behind the plate.
First base is the most competitive position, as it is a gathering place for power hitters. Kim Hye-sung's choice was Park Byung-ho (Samsung), who boasts 403 career home runs. Kim Hye-sung named Jung Keun-woo (retired) as the best second baseman and evaluated Choi Jeong of SSG Landers as the best third baseman in history.
The best shortstop selected by Kim Hye-sung is "Son of the Wind" Lee Jong-beom, a coach for KT Wiz. Looking at the outfield, Lee Jung-hoo, who is active with the San Francisco Giants, Park Geon-woo of NC Dinos, and LG Twins captain Park Hae-min were mentioned.
"BASS Voice Baseball" introduced the best players by position in Korean professional baseball selected by Kim Hye-sung, saying, "We all need to pay attention to Korean baseball. They are legends of Korean baseball."
It also stated, "Kim Hye-sung played for the Kiwoom Heroes in the KBO League from 2017 to last year and signed with the Dodgers ahead of this season. He has won the Golden Glove award four times and has consistently recorded a high batting average, in addition to being crowned the stolen base king."
Meanwhile, Kim Hye-sung will not participate in the Tokyo series and will start the season with Triple-A Oklahoma City Dodgers.
Having challenged the U.S. stage with a contract worth $12.5 million guaranteed for 3+2 years with the Dodgers last January, Kim Hye-sung recorded disappointing results in the exhibition games. In 15 games, he had 29 at-bats, 6 hits, a batting average of .207, 1 home run, 3 RBIs, and 6 runs scored.
While he starts the season in Triple-A, it should not be viewed negatively. If he can improve his hitting skills, he is likely to earn another opportunity.
