The Korea Sports Council began the process of selecting a new secretary general and athlete village chief on the 10th, starting with preliminary consultations with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The nominee for secretary general is Kim Na-mi, former vice president of the International Biathlon Union, and the nominee for athlete village chief is Kim Taek-soo, senior vice president of the Asian Table Tennis Union.

Kim Na-mi, the new secretary general nominee, is a former national ski representative and has built international sports administrative experience by serving as a commissioner of the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics bid committee and vice president of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). Additionally, she has served as vice president of the Korea Triathlon Association and as secretary general of the Foundation for Sports Talent Development, demonstrating exceptional leadership in policy planning and organizational management, and is regarded as a capable woman who bridges both the field and administration. Notably, this is significant as it marks the emergence of the first female secretary general in the 105-year history of the Korea Sports Council.

Additionally, Kim Taek-soo, the new athlete village chief nominee, is a former national table tennis representative and has been recognized as a practical manager who has accumulated administrative experience through his roles as the head coach of the men's national table tennis team, technical director of the Korea Table Tennis Association, competition director, and executive vice president of Mirae Asset Securities' table tennis team.

Chairman Yoo Seung-min noted, "Kim Na-mi, an expert in winter sports who has maintained close exchanges with various figures in the international sports community, will play a significant role in the future development of the Korea Sports Council and the promotion of major projects based on her ample capabilities," and expressed optimism that "Kim Taek-soo, the athlete village chief with years of administrative experience alongside his leadership career, is the right person to elevate the national training center to the next stage."

He also conveyed that this appointment would enable the council to "expand focused investment and support for winter sports in the process leading up to the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics from the recent Harbin Winter Asian Games."

The new secretary general and athlete village chief will be appointed by the chairman with the consent of the board of directors, and the Korea Sports Council is scheduled to hold its first board meeting on March 27 (Thursday) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel to address key agenda items, including the appointment of executives.
