There is growing sentiment that Tottenham should dispose of Richarlison (27). Some even argue that he should be transferred for as low as £5 million (approximately 9.4 billion won).
The British media, Tottenham News, reported on the 10th (Korea time) that "Tottenham may put Richarlison up for £5 million. His agent is pushing for a transfer."
Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy may have to bear a loss of £55 million (approximately 103.2 billion won) due to Richarlison.
Tottenham invested £60 million (approximately 112.5 billion won) to acquire him from Everton in the summer of 2022, so selling him for just £5 million would result in a significant loss.
Richarlison performed decently during his time at Everton. He scored 10 goals and provided 5 assists in the 2021-2022 season, helping the team escape relegation and arriving at Tottenham with expectations.
He was expected to lead the attack, switching between the left and center, but contrary to expectations, his performance at Tottenham has been minimal. In his first season, he scored only 1 goal in the league and missed many matches due to frequent injuries. Last season, he seemed to bounce back with 11 goals but again suffered injuries and has not been able to seize playing opportunities.
Richarlison has played 9 league matches this season, recording 2 goals and 1 assist.
Tottenham also appears to be ready to part ways with Richarlison. Tottenham News projected that "he has not lived up to expectations due to ongoing injuries, and even when he played, his finishing left much to be desired. His time at Tottenham is now approaching its end."
The issue is recovering the transfer fee. If a Saudi Arabian club shows interest, Tottenham could receive more than expected, but it has been reported that Richarlison has refused a move to Saudi Arabia.
Among European teams, there aren't many that would pay a high transfer fee for him. Meanwhile, there have been reports that his former team, Everton, is showing interest.
According to 'Give Me Sport', Everton is considering Richarlison as a replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, whose contract is expiring. They plan to inquire with Tottenham when the summer transfer market opens.
'TBR Football' has also raised the possibility of Richarlison returning to Everton. The outlet noted, "If Everton wants Richarlison, they will push for his signing. He has maintained a good relationship with the fans. The club still highly values him."
The key will be the transfer fee, but Tottenham's former scout Bryan Keen argued that his market value is only between £5 million and £10 million (approximately 18.8 billion won).
Currently, Richarlison's contract with Tottenham runs until June 2027. After this season, there will be 2 years left on the contract. With just a year left before the contract expires, the transfer fee is likely to decrease further, so this summer could be the right time to transfer him.
Tottenham News stated that "Tottenham must bear the loss from Richarlison and move on to the next step. The club has incurred losses due to expensive player acquisitions in recent years. Tanguy Ndombele has been released, and Giovani Lo Celso was sold for a low price."
