The Korea Racing Authority (Chairman Jeong Gi-hwan) announced that on 4th, it conducted a joint campaign to prevent youth gambling problems together with the Gwacheon Police Station at Yulmok Middle School.
The campaign was held to raise awareness of the risks of youth gambling problems among students and teachers, as the issue has recently intensified. This is the second joint campaign following one held in August last year.
Approximately 25 people, including Jeong In-kyun, head of business planning at the Korea Racing Authority, the chief of the Gwacheon Police Station, the principal of Yulmok Middle School, and the head of the Gwacheon Youth Counseling Center, attended the scene. Attendees distributed promotional materials to prevent illegal gambling addiction and held a time to raise awareness about gambling issues.
The chief of the Gwacheon Police Station said, “As the new school year begins, we will cooperate with related organizations to work on various fronts to prevent school violence and ensure child safety.”
Jeong In-kyun, head of business planning at the Korea Racing Authority, noted, “This joint campaign is significant in that it created a consensus by informing youth and teachers of the severity of youth gambling problems in frontline educational settings,” adding, “In the future, we will continue to work hard and promote cooperation with relevant organizations such as the education office and the Korean National Police Agency to prevent youth gambling problems and improve awareness.”
Meanwhile, the Korea Racing Authority and the Gwacheon Police Station have been maintaining close cooperation based on a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in May last year to prevent youth gambling problems. In the future, professional counselors affiliated with the Korea Racing Authority will visit local schools to conduct youth gambling addiction prevention education.
