Ultimately, Seoul SK's persistence shone through once again.
The Seoul SK Knights won 71-56 against the Goyang Sono Skygunners in the 2024-2025 KCC Professional Basketball League regular season match held at Goyang Sono Arena on the 7th. This victory marked 35 wins and 8 losses, leaving only three games remaining for the regular season championship. Sono finished with 14 wins and 28 losses.
SK's defense stood out. They secured an easy victory with a fast break after demonstrating their strong front-line defense. Ahn Young-jun scored 22 points with 6 rebounds, Kim Seon-hyung added 15 points with 7 rebounds, and Jamil Warney recorded 17 points with 14 rebounds. Sono's Lee Jung-hyun, returning to form, contributed 19 points, while DJ Burns managed 18 points with 6 rebounds.
The early stages were tight. In fact, Sono surged ahead using the destructive power of Burns. Although they held on with characteristic rebounds, they struggled with interior defense, allowing Burns to score 12 points. Moreover, SK could not maintain their characteristic fast breaks. Ultimately, the first quarter ended with Sono ahead 19-12.
The same was true in the second quarter. SK suffered from severe shooting woes. Meanwhile, Sono's ace, Lee Jung-hyun, who returned, scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers, helping them pull ahead. Still, toward the end of the second quarter, SK stabilized their chase, finishing the quarter at 27-34.
Starting from the third quarter, the SK we know came back. They applied strong pressure to minimize Sono's ball delivery while forcing turnovers. With consecutive fast breaks, they gradually extended their lead. Additionally, Ahn Young-jun's 3-pointers started pouring in, leading to an intense contest.
The fourth quarter was even more intense. However, SK's resilience shone. Kim Seon-hyung scored consecutively, and Ahn Young-jun's 3-pointer widened the score gap significantly. SK, pulling ahead relatively easily, maintained their momentum and reduced the magic number to '3' with a final score of 71-56.
