A team has emerged that is targeting Cristiano Ronaldo (40, Al Nassr). Since the approach comes from a club whose reputation has greatly diminished, the likelihood of a transfer seems low.

British media outlet Teamtalk reported on the 4th (Korean time) that "the expiration of Ronaldo's contract with Al Nassr is imminent. Could a stunning transfer occur? A president of an ambitious club in Brazil has expressed a desire to acquire 'superstar' Cristiano Ronaldo."

The 'ambitious club' mentioned here is Associação Portuguesa de Desportos (hereafter Portuguesa), which belongs to the fourth division of Brazilian football.

Cristiano Ronaldo, who wore the Al Nassr jersey in January 2023, will have his contract expire in June this year. There have been no reports of contract renewal discussions yet.

In this situation, Portuguesa president Alex Bourgeois is drooling over the prospect of acquiring Ronaldo.

Teamtalk explained that "Portuguesa participates in the traditional Brazilian tournament Campeonato Paulista alongside prestigious teams like Santos, Palmeiras, and Corinthians. They have previously attempted to sign Radamel Falcao and Nani. This time, they are targeting Ronaldo with an even greater goal."

Bourgeois, the president of Portuguesa, noted in an interview with CNN that the acquisition would be an attempt to revive pride in the Portuguese community, stating, "The past attempt to sign Nani was for the same reason. We aim to bring in a great Portuguese player in preparation for the 2026 Paulista tournament."

He added, "Ronaldo is the greatest Portuguese player of all time and one of the most famous figures in the world. Many people might not make offers related to Portugal to him? It is clear that he is a great Portuguese man. Therefore, at some point, we need to attempt to have a conversation with him."

However, it is likely that things will not go as he wishes.

According to Teamtalk, Ronaldo is currently satisfied with his life in Saudi Arabia.

Ronaldo said, "My family and I are happy here. I have started a new life in this beautiful country. Both life and football are good," and added, "I am still developing both personally and as a team."

He had previously dismissed the rumors about returning to his 'home team' Sporting CP last February as "nonsense," making the possibility of joining Portuguesa even less likely.

While he is not scoring at the same pace as last season when he recorded 50 goals, Ronaldo has shown his scoring ability by netting 25 goals in 30 games this season.
