"Sungui Arena" Incheon Football Stadium sold out for the first time in history.
Incheon United and Suwon Samsung are facing off in the Hana Bank K League 2 2025 regular league Round 2, which took place at 2 p.m. on the 1st at Incheon Football Stadium.
This is a matchup of two teams considered strong candidates for promotion. Incheon and Suwon were rivals in K League 1 until two years ago. However, in the 2023 season, Suwon recorded the lowest rank, and last season Incheon also got relegated for the first time in its history, leading to a competition for promotion.
As it is an important match, fans flocked to the stadium. With more than 18,000 tickets sold an hour before kickoff, a full house was anticipated. Out of a total of 18,282 seats, only about 60 seats remained that the Incheon club decided to sell on-site considering national merit holders.
A good feeling became reality. Incheon announced that it achieved a full house (18,282) for the first time in club history. This is the first time since the Incheon Football Stadium opened in 2013, marking a milestone after 14 years. It is a significant accomplishment achieved in just two K League 2 matches.
Naturally, it is expected that the all-time record for paid attendance in K League 2 will also follow. The previous record was 15,308 attendees set during the match between Suwon and Ansan last November. However, this match is estimated to have drawn more than 18,000 spectators. While the official count from the Korea Professional Football League is yet to be released, it is likely that the number will exceed 15,308, as there were nearly no empty seats.
However, it did not break the record for the highest attendance in Incheon club history. Incheon's highest home attendance record was set at 18,541 during the home opener against Jeju United (now Jeju SK) in March 2019. At that time, there were 20,000 seats available, but now, due to a seat reconfiguration, the number has been reduced to 18,282.
Incheon manager Yoon Jung-hwan said before the match, "I hope the players will not be shaken in front of many fans," and noted, "The players feel a sense of excitement. They feel loved by so many people. We must repay them with results."
