Jeonbuk Hyundai will play the first leg of the ACLT quarterfinals at Yongin Mir Stadium instead of their home stadium, Jeonju World Cup Stadium.
Jeonbuk Hyundai officially announced on the 27th through the club's official channel, "As reported on the 26th, we received a decision from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) that it is not possible to hold the home match of the first leg of the AFC Champions League TWO (ACLT) at Jeonju World Cup Stadium due to the deteriorating condition of the grass on the ground."
Jeonbuk, which advanced to the ACLT quarterfinals, was scheduled to face Sydney FC at home on the 6th and then travel to Sydney on the 13th, but due to the condition of the ground at their home stadium, Jeonju World Cup Stadium, they will face Sydney at Yongin Mir Stadium instead.
Jeonbuk noted, "As a result of reviewing and consulting various venues to select an alternative stadium, Yongin Mir Stadium has been chosen as the home venue for the first leg of the ACLT on the 6th." It added, "To minimize the inconvenience fans will experience due to the change of home venue, the club will operate a free 'ACLT cheer bus' between Jeonju and Yongin and will adjust the ticket prices for the match downward."
It also apologized, saying, "Once again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused to our fans."
Meanwhile, a Jeonbuk official said, "The cooperative relationship between the club and the administration is better than any professional team in South Korea. The football team and the administration are always working hard for mutual respect and fan viewing convenience through various collaborations."
However, it pointed out, "There are limits to preparing for February matches and managing the grass with the limited budget of the administration. The administration staff are working very hard."
It continued, "Unless there is basic infrastructure investment, we need to prepare for the early start of the season and the spring-autumn system in the future."
