MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, revealed on the 26th (Korean time) eight players facing position changes this season.

Mookie Betts, who is a teammate of Hyun-soo Kim (Los Angeles Dodgers infielder), was mentioned first.

As is well known, Betts, who was an infielder when he joined the league, changed to an outfielder and has established himself as one of the best outfielders in Major League Baseball, winning the Gold Glove award six times in the institutional sector.

According to MLB.com, he played 61 games as a shortstop last year but suffered a left-hand fracture in June. He returned in August, playing as a right fielder and contributing to the World Series victory. Although he made throwing errors as a shortstop, he focused on defensive strengthening over the winter. He is expected to show even better performance as a shortstop this season.

Of course, the Dodgers have prepared a Plan B with Kiké Hernández, Miguel Rojas, and Tommy Edman in case Betts does not settle in as a shortstop.

Jose Altuve, a standout player for the Houston Astros, will also change positions. The American League Silver Slugger winner as a second baseman is expected to play left field this season.

The outlet reported, "If Altuve moves to left field, Houston's keystone combination will become even stronger, and Jordan Alvarez can be utilized as a designated hitter," noting, "It is still uncertain whether Altuve can settle in left field, but he is willing to challenge that transformation if it helps the team's victory."

Alex Bregman, a former American League Gold Glove winner at third base who was traded to the Boston Red Sox, will transition to second base. The outlet stated, "Bregman said he can handle any infield position, but due to team circumstances, he seems more likely to play second base than third base."

Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels outfielder) will also shift his defensive position. Trout, who has undergone two surgeries on his left knee, is changing from center field to right field to reduce defensive burden.

Although corner outfield defense may be unfamiliar to Trout, who has played as a center fielder since his major league debut, the advantage for the team is that they can consistently utilize Trout, who is among the best hitters in the league.
