"Hwaseong FC will strive to be a presence where citizens can find joy."
Hwaseong FC held an official media day event ahead of the Hana Bank K League 2 2025 home opener. The event, which took place on the 26th at Hwaseong Sports Complex, was attended by Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun and Head Coach Cha Doo-ri.
Hwaseong will host the K League 2 opening match at Hwaseong Sports Complex on March 2. The opponent for the home opener is Chungnam Asan. They will face Chungnam Asan, who advanced to the promotion-relegation playoffs last season.
Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun noted, "Hwaseong City has entered K League 2 after 11 years of effort in K3. It is significant to enter during the time Hwaseong becomes a special city. I will continue to work hard to maintain the momentum."
Mayor Jeong stated, "On March 2, I will properly greet the citizens at the home game. Although the loss against Seongnam was unfortunate, I believe it was a chance to open doors. We will welcome citizens with a more exciting game on March 2. For Hwaseong to present thrilling matches, a lot of fans need to come out and support us."
Additionally, "Head Coach Cha Doo-ri is truly a source of strength. He has already showcased his abilities in many places. When I think of Cha Doo-ri, I think of 'The Terminator.' Although Hwaseong is the youngest in K League, I expect exciting football will be created. The coach also has ties to Hwaseong, as his father hails from there. I believe he will have a strong attachment to the place. There are many reasons for bringing Coach Cha on board, but I have high expectations."
Meanwhile, Mayor Jeong explained, "Professional football is a significant force for the local economy. There are many difficult situations in Hwaseong City. The reason for forming a professional football team is that the population has steadily increased. We started with 200,000 and now have reached 1 million. A team that can facilitate togetherness and identity for the citizens was necessary. After operating in K3 for 11 years, we began to think about efficient management, leading to the establishment of the citizen team. Many people find this difficult. We sought ways to find revitalization. We hope to provide the joy that can invigorate their daily lives when they visit the stadium. I hope many people come out and support us at the stadium."
