The young players seemed not to have seen the article.

The Doosan Bears manager Lee Seung-yup noted on the 25th while meeting with reporters during the 2nd spring camp team training held at Hinata Himuka Stadium in Miyazaki, Japan, that it seemed the young players did not see the article. He reflected on the practice game that ended in a 0-0 draw against the Yomiuri Giants 2nd team on the 24th.

The Doosan young lineup struggled against the Yomiuri 2nd team's mound. Oh Myung-jin, Lee Yoo-chan, and Jo Soo-haeng each reported multi-hits, but the team's total hits consisted of just those 6.

Lee Seung-yup emphasized, "The weather was cold, so I had to change the lineup quickly, and everyone suffered through the cold. For young players, you could say the season has already started. Veteran players and foreigners prepare their bodies in line with the season, but young players need to show their presence starting now. If they cannot, they will have to go to the Futures."

After the retirement of Kim Jae-ho and the transfer of Heo Kyung-min to the KT Wiz, the Doosan Bears are in fierce competition for the shortstop position among Lee Yoo-chan and Park Ji-hoon, while Oh Myung-jin, Yeo Dong-gun, and Park Joon-soon are competing for the second baseman spot. In the outfield, there is a need for resources to take responsibility in matches where left fielder Kim Jae-hwan plays designated hitter, with as many as 5 candidates including Kim Min-seok, Chu Jae-hyun, Kang Hyun-goo, Jo Soo-haeng, and Jeon Da-min.

The manager seemed dissatisfied with the competitive attitude of these players. On the 23rd, Lee Seung-yup unusually expressed anger, saying, "It doesn't seem there's a desperation to survive and produce results somehow. Young players need to know where they currently stand. I was upset about that in the game on the 21st. As professional baseball players, these aspects are naturally necessary."

Lee Seung-yup stated, "For the team to change, young players must change. The veterans have been doing their part and can prepare well for the season on their own. The young players who have not yet secured their spots need to stand out in their respective roles. Particularly, we need at least one emerging player from the second baseman and left fielder positions, and right now Jo Soo-haeng shows the most promise. Young players need to strive to outperform. If they think they cannot, they will not remain on the first team."

However, not all of the young players are developing slowly. In the field, Oh Myung-jin, who is competing for the starting second baseman position, has stood out with his batting. Lee Seung-yup remarked, "Oh Myung-jin has improved a lot. If Myung-jin's personality doesn’t affect him, he tends to get deeply absorbed in his tasks, but he seems to have gained confidence after hitting a single in the recent Segasami game. As he continued to hit, his expression brightened significantly, and he's found a bit of ease. He's showing his skills both offensively and defensively."

The competition for the fifth starter is also looking bright. Participants in the audition, including Choi Won-jun, Kim Yoo-sung, and Choi Joon-ho, have maintained a consistently good pace throughout the camp. Lee Seung-yup expressed, "I am struggling to decide who to use as the fifth starter. The condition of all the players has been good since the Australian camp. When the time comes to select just one person, it seems it will give me a headache. If they show good performance, they can also be utilized as a long reliever in the early season. I am considering various options. Having even one more player is a positive element for the team."

Lee Seung-yup plans to dedicate more time to developing and competing the keystone combo in the coming week. If Park Joon-young, who is training at the 2nd team camp in Miyakojima, Japan, joins the first team, a combination of shortstop Lee Joon-young and second baseman Lee Yoo-chan could be possible. However, given Park Joon-young's history of frequent injuries last year, a plan must be devised for that.

Lee Seung-yup noted, "First, we need to see if Park Joon-young can play in the first team without injury. It’s not good if the shortstop position changes frequently. Park Joon-young has done well for two years but has suffered various injuries, and if he vacates that position, other players will inevitably have to shift positions. Lee Yoo-chan is performing well as a shortstop, but we also need to verify Park Joon-young's skills."

He added, "We also have to watch if someone emerges to secure the second baseman position. There are many positions we need to consider. With just over three weeks remaining until the opening, we will continue to evaluate through the second camp and exhibition games to determine the starters."

Doosan will hold its fourth practice game of the second spring camp against the Seibu Lions on the 26th at Sun Marine Stadium in Miyazaki, Japan. Doosan had previously secured a 5-4 victory against Seibu on the 22nd.
