The women's ice hockey team has taken another step further from the medal zone, losing to Japan following a defeat to China. To win the first-ever medal, they must secure a victory against Kazakhstan in the final match.

According to the Korea Sports Council and others on the 13th, the Korean women's ice hockey team lost to Japan 0-6 in the second semifinal match of the '2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games' held at the Harbin Sports University ice rink in China.

In this tournament, China and Japan qualified for the finals first, joining Kazakhstan and South Korea, who passed the preliminaries, to compete in a round-robin format to determine the final rankings. Having already lost to China 1-2 in the first match the previous day, their chances of winning have diminished.

Japan tightened the grip on South Korea from the beginning with rapid speed and strong pressure. Japan scored 3 points in the first period, added 2 goals in the second period, and concluded the game by scoring again in the final third period.

The Korean women's ice hockey team initially aimed for its first-ever Asian Games medal. However, they now find themselves in a situation where they need to consider various scenarios after winning against Kazakhstan. Earlier, South Korea had lost to Kazakhstan.
