South Korean short track women's representative team Choi Min-jung (Seongnam City Hall) won a gold medal on the 9th, becoming the first athlete from the South Korean delegation to achieve a triple crown at the 2025 Harbin Winter Asian Games.
Choi Min-jung set a new Asian Games record of 1 minute 29.637 seconds while winning the women's 1000m final at the multi-purpose hall of the Heilongjiang Ice Training Center in Harbin, China, on the 9th. Choi Min-jung secured her third gold medal following the mixed 2000m relay and women's 500m held the previous day.
Kim Gil-ri (Seongnam City Hall) won the silver medal with a time of 1 minute 29.739 seconds. China's Zhang Chutong took home the bronze medal. Shim Seok-hee (Seoul City Hall) finished in fourth place.
Choi Min-jung broke away from the start and led the race in first place. While racing at the front, she surrendered the lead to Kim Gil-ri with six laps remaining in the final but regained first place.
Choi Min-jung will challenge for her fourth title in the women's 3000m relay, which will occur soon.
