Tensions are escalating between Samsung Group's supra-enterprise labor union Samsung Electronics branch (supra-enterprise union), the largest union at Samsung Electronics, and Donghaeng, the non-semiconductor union at Samsung Electronics (Donghaeng union). The supra-enterprise union formally demanded that the Donghaeng union stop using extreme expressions that could cause anxiety and humiliation to fellow employees.
According to the industry on the 14th, the supra-enterprise union sent an official letter to the Donghaeng union titled "Request for official position and recurrence prevention measures regarding violent expressions and derogatory remarks targeting executives and employees and Chairperson Choi Seung-ho in the Donghaeng communication room."
Through the official letter, the supra-enterprise union said it received materials showing that violent expressions and derogatory remarks targeting Samsung Electronics executives and employees and Chairperson Choi Seung-ho were posted in the Donghaeng union's Telegram communication room.
According to the supra-enterprise union, the Donghaeng union used extreme expressions in the Telegram communication room, including wishing for physical harm or the use of explosives against the chairperson Choi. It was also reported to have disparaged employees of certain business units and organizations.
Regarding this, the supra-enterprise union said, "This goes beyond differences of opinion on compensation systems or bargaining outcomes and is a serious matter that could cause anxiety and humiliation to the parties involved and to fellow employees."
