A worker in his 40s was killed at a site preparation project in the Cheomdan District of Buk District, Gwangju-Jeonnam Integrated Special City.
According to the Labor Ministry on the 12th, at about 7:35 p.m. that day, the worker was struck in the head by a falling steel structure. The worker was transported to a hospital in cardiac arrest but ultimately died.
At the time of the accident, the worker was reportedly loading a steel structure onto a grapple truck with colleagues.
The Major Industrial Accident Investigation Division of the Gwangju Office and the Construction Industrial Accident Prevention Supervision Division of the Gwangju Regional Employment and Labor Office immediately launched on-site and accident investigations. They are examining the cause of the accident and whether there were violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
