YulChon (Managing Attorney Kang Seok-hoon) said on the 11th that it strengthened its professional workforce in the defense, defense industry, diplomacy, and security fields and launched the "defense industry cybersecurity strategy center."
The center focuses on supporting the entire business process of defense companies from the initial stage, including policy and legislative responses, contracts, regulation and compliance, and dispute response. It also provides advice on export controls and technology transfer and protection required for overseas expansion, as well as cybersecurity standards in overseas procurement markets and supply chains.
YulChon said that as the overseas businesses of defense companies have expanded beyond simple arms exports to local production, international joint development, technology transfer, industrial cooperation, and local investment, the need has grown to review not only legal issues but also each country's security and industrial policies together.
Attorneys Song Gwang-seok and Cho Hee-tae will jointly head the center. Song has supported domestic defense companies' entry into overseas markets and large defense export projects, and Cho, drawing on experience in the Legal Litigation Division of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, has handled related work such as defense acquisition contracts, defense industry cost accounting, and administrative sanctions.
Former Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Moon Seung-wook and former Vice Administrator of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; former Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination of the Ministry of National Defense Kim Jeong-seop; former Vice Administrator of the National Intelligence Service and presidential senior secretary for cyber security Yun O-jun; former president of the Korea National Defense University Jeong Hae-il; and former head of the Office of Strategy and Intelligence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Jo Gu-rae will also participate as advisers.
The center will also support responses to key security requirements such as CMMC (Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification), the cybersecurity certification system for the U.S. defense procurement market. CMMC is a system by the U.S. Department of Defense that evaluates and certifies the cybersecurity level of corporations participating in the defense supply chain.
YulChon also plans to collaborate with its internal organizations, including the defense aerospace strategy center, the technology export and import control response center, the global trade center, the integrated security center, and the integrated TMT center.
Center head Song Gwang-seok said, "From the start of a project, it has become important to analyze security and industrial policies and the overseas market environment and to link business strategy through compliance," adding, "We will strengthen our role as a strategic partner that designs and executes new businesses with corporations."
