The Korean Bar Association said on the 10th it will co-host the 39th LAWASIA annual conference with LAWASIA (Law Association for Asia and the Pacific). It will be held from Sept. 14 to 16 at The Plaza Hotel Seoul and Koreana Hotel.
LAWASIA is a leading regional association of legal professionals in the Asia-Pacific, involving lawyers, judges, legal experts, and major bar organizations from more than 40 jurisdictions. The annual conference is a key event where legal leaders and practitioners from each country gather to discuss legal issues and international challenges. It is hosted in rotation by countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
This is the fourth time the LAWASIA annual conference will be held in Seoul, following 1977, 1999, and 2011. Marking the 60th anniversary of LAWASIA this year, it will take place under the theme "Global new order – challenges and prospects."
Legal professionals from around the world, including the Asia-Pacific, will gather in one place to discuss key issues and tasks facing the legal community amid a changing international order and legal environment.
During the three-day conference from Sept. 14 to 16, a welcome reception and specialized sessions will be offered across a range of fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), intellectual property, international transactions, finance, labor, family law, human rights, and environmental law. Legal professionals from each country will share major legal issues and recent legislative and practice trends, and seek diverse perspectives and solutions.
Association President Kim Jeong-uk said, "As the international order changes rapidly, the importance of exchange and cooperation among legal professionals is growing," adding, "Marking the 60th anniversary of LAWASIA, we hope this conference in Seoul will be a meaningful occasion for legal professionals from around the world to share major legal issues and jointly explore the future legal environment."
