A man in his 40s who habitually caused disturbances—grabbing other customers' side dishes at a pojangmacha without permission and pulling out unpaid alcohol at a convenience store to drink while threatening the owner—has been sent to prosecutors under arrest.
On Sep. 9, Cheonan Dongnam Police Station in South Chungcheong said it had arrested and referred a man in his 40s, identified as A, on charges including obstruction of business for habitually dining and drinking without paying while intoxicated and disrupting operations.
Police said A is accused of habitually disrupting business and causing disturbances, including threatening the owner while drinking alcohol worth 3,000 won without paying at a convenience store in Dongnam District, Cheonan, at about 2:10 a.m. on the 3rd.
After arresting A, police found that there had been 13 calls to 112 related to A in the past eight days alone. Seeing that the crimes were repeated over a short period and that the risk of reoffending was high, police took A into custody.
A reportedly repeated relatively minor offenses, such as entering a pojangmacha and freely grabbing other customers' side dishes or pulling out alcohol in the store to drink.
In particular, A was found to have continued these acts even while under non-custodial investigation after being separately booked on charges of obstruction of business, obstruction of official duties, and fraud.
Police plan to respond strictly, including seeking arrests during investigations, when the risk of reoffending is high due to repeated offenses over a short period, even if the damage from individual cases is not large.
