Yoon & Yang LLC (managing partner Lee Myung-su) said on the 8th that it has hired Ma Sun, a former Financial Services Commission assistant director (36th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute), as a partner attorney.
After completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute in 2007, Attorney Ma entered public service as an administrative officer at the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of the Ministry of Finance and Economy. After the launch of the Financial Services Commission (FSC) in 2008, Ma worked in the banking division, insurance division, SME finance division, and inclusive finance team, handling licensing and sanctions for banking, insurance, and specialized credit finance businesses.
Ma handled finance-related statutes including the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information, the Real-Name Financial Transactions Act, the Electronic Financial Transactions Act, the Credit Information Act, and the Financial Consumer Protection Act. While at the FIU, Ma was responsible for drafting the mutual evaluation report and responding to on-site inspections in the process of Korea becoming a full member of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
After being promoted to assistant director in 2020, Ma handled the drafting of subordinate regulations under the Financial Consumer Protection Act in the Financial Consumer Policy Division. As head of the financial regulatory sandbox team, Ma oversaw the designation of innovative financial services and the establishment of guidelines for exclusive operating rights.
Most recently, Ma served as deputy head of Compulsory Investigation Team 2 of the joint response unit to eradicate stock price manipulation, conducting field investigations related to unfair trading in the capital market.
Yoon & Yang plans to use Attorney Ma's addition to strengthen its advisory capabilities in financial regulatory sandboxes, digital finance, unfair trading in the capital market, credit information, anti-money laundering, licensing and sanctions in financial businesses, and financial consumer protection.
