The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries held its first roundtable on the 8th to discuss plans to push forward with integrating port authorities.
At the roundtable held that day in the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) conference room, Vice Minister Nam Jae-heon and the heads of the four port authorities attended.
Earlier, on the 3rd of this month, the government said that, in line with plans to reform the functions of public institutions, it would integrate the four port authorities into the Korea Port Authority (tentative name). In response, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF) held the roundtable to begin preparations to establish the port authorities as a single corporation and launch it.
At the roundtable, participants discussed plans to form a "port authority integrated corporation task force," as well as key review items and the schedule for the integration process, to draw up specific integration measures for the port authorities.
Vice Minister Nam Jae-heon said, "To ensure the successful integration of the port authorities, we will continue to communicate with local governments, related agencies, and stakeholders and work out reasonable measures."
