An incident occurred in which 52 international passengers of Korean Air Lines were mistakenly dropped off at the domestic terminal of Gimpo Airport, and it was confirmed that four of them left the airport without going through immigration.
On the 8th, according to Korean Air Lines and others, on June 7 an airliner carrying 52 passengers departed Japan's Haneda Airport and arrived at Gimpo Airport.
In the process, one ramp bus shuttling between the aircraft and the terminal mistakenly dropped off the 52 passengers at the domestic terminal instead of the international terminal.
Unaware of this, the passengers reportedly moved into the terminal mixed in with domestic passengers who had arrived on other flights around the same time.
Among them, four were found to have exited the airport without undergoing separate immigration screening.
Korean Air Lines and related authorities belatedly confirmed that the ramp bus had gone to the domestic terminal rather than the international arrivals route. They then identified the passengers in question and carried out the necessary procedures, including immigration screening.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport judged the incident to be an aviation security violation and imposed fines of 10 million won on Korean Air Lines.
A Korean Air Lines official said, "We take this matter very seriously and will reexamine on-site operating procedures and take necessary measures to prevent similar cases."
