Traffic controls will be in place on major roads and subway stations ahead of the Seoul World Fireworks Festival in the Yeouido area of Seoul on the 5th. With large crowds expected to gather near the venue, movement of vehicles and pedestrians is expected to be restricted.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, vehicle traffic will be completely banned from 3 p.m. to midnight on the section of Yeouidong-ro from the south end of Mapo Bridge to the 63 Building. At six points including Yeouinaru-ro, access will be allowed only for nearby apartment residents and event vehicles.
For event setup and dismantling, Wonhyo Bridge will also be fully closed to vehicle traffic in both directions from 9 a.m. on the 5th to 3 a.m. on the 6th.
Subway use will also be restricted. At Yeouinaru Station, where crowds are expected to concentrate, trains will not stop and will pass through for three hours from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on the 5th.
After the fireworks festival ends, additional traffic management for pedestrian safety will be implemented. Police plan to control one lower lane each on Mapo Bridge and Hangang Bridge to secure pedestrian space.
Police asked the public to use public transportation in consideration of traffic congestion around the venue.
