As the story of a truck owner who stuck a handwritten letter on the windshield while saying goodbye to a truck that had run with them for 29 years went viral online, Hyundai Motor even set out to find the owner.
Recently on social media (SNS) and online communities, photos of a handwritten letter titled "farewell run" stuck to the windshield of a blue truck were shared one after another. The exact time the letter was written is unknown, and the vehicle in the photo is presumed to be Hyundai Motor's 1-ton Porter truck.
The vehicle's initial registration date written by the owner in the letter is Oct. 28, 1997. The total mileage comes to 448,000 km.
The owner began the letter by saying, "I dedicate this writing to my beloved friend who has shared joy and hardship with me for 29 years."
The owner wrote, "We met and endured the IMF storm together, and during that long time you quietly shouldered my hardships," adding, "Thanks to you, I raised and educated two children, and now we are each doing our best on our own paths."
The owner also expressed gratitude to the truck that had been together for many years, saying, "All this joy was possible because of you. Thank you so much."
The letter also carried an apology ahead of the farewell. The owner added, "As time passed, I'm truly sorry I couldn't keep our promise to always be together until the end," and, "I will cherish your breath and devotion forever."
The owner went on, "You were not just a car but a companion, friend, and family in my life," adding, "Thank you so much for everything, and I'm truly sorry to let you go. Goodbye, my Friend (프렌드)."
As the handwritten letter went viral online, Hyundai Motor also set out to find the owner.
On the 2nd, Hyundai Motor commented, "We really want to say hello," on an SNS account that shared the handwritten letter. Hyundai Motor said, "Your heart for being together for as long as 29 years really resonates deeply," and added, "If you know the owner or if you are the owner, please contact the official Hyundai Motor account."
