Sejong LLC said on the 3rd that it has hired Han Gi-su, a former Seoul High Court judge (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 33).
Attorney Han served as a judge for about 20 years, from 2004 to 2024. Han handled civil, criminal, and family cases at the Seoul High Court, Seoul Central District Court, Seoul Southern District Court, Suwon District Court Anyang Branch, and Gwangju District Court.
Han served as a judicial support deliberation officer at the National Court Administration, overseeing judicial administration related to criminal trials, and also served as spokesperson for the Seoul High Court. While on the bench, Han was named an outstanding judge by the Gyeonggi Central Bar Association.
After finishing as a criminal and election-specialized high court judge at the Seoul High Court in 2024 and leaving the judiciary, Attorney Han joined KIM&CHANG. Since then, Han has handled corporate criminal matters and white-collar crime, criminal cases related to serious accidents and industrial safety and health, construction and real estate disputes, and family and inheritance litigation.
Sejong plans to strengthen its capabilities in corporate criminal and civil-criminal litigation through this hire. In particular, it plans to leverage Attorney Han's trial experience in cases where civil and criminal issues are intertwined, such as disputes involving corporations and finance.
Oh Jong-han, managing partner at Sejong, said, "Attorney Han Gi-su has built trial experience and expertise across diverse fields through a long judicial career, and is a litigation specialist who has directly handled various types of disputes surrounding corporations at a major law firm," adding, "We expect synergy with Sejong's existing litigation capabilities."
Recently, Sejong has been expanding its litigation team by successively recruiting former judges, including Lee Hyun-bok, a former presiding judge of a criminal division at the Seoul Central District Court, and Yoon Jun-seok, a former senior judge at the Jeongeup Branch of the Jeonju District Court.
