The Asia Brand Research Institute, a big data evaluation agency, said on the 2nd that Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon was selected No. 1 in the K-Brand Index metropolitan government heads institutional sector.
The reputation survey analyzed 36,884,982 online big data cases for one month in August this year, targeting 16 metropolitan government heads nationwide. It quantified indicators such as trends, media, and positive/negative evaluations.
Mayor Oh took first place with a total of 175 points. He was followed by Gyeonggi Gov. Choo Mi-ae, Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae, Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo, Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho, Ulsan Mayor Kim Sang-wook, South Jeolla–Gwangju Mayor Min Hyung-bae, South Chungcheong Gov. Park Soo-hyun, Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jeong, and Gangwon Gov. Woo Sang-ho.
The Asia Brand Research Institute said, "Metropolitan government heads are evaluated not only on simple policy outcomes but also by a composite of factors, including their response to national issues and regional tasks, the reach of their messages, and exposure in the media and digital channels," and added, "Because many issues intersect regional administration and national agendas, how effectively they communicate policy remarks and moves has a significant impact on external perception and brand value."
However, this reputation survey differs from evaluations that directly measure actual administrative performance.
