A festival where you can properly taste daeha, a fall delicacy, will be held at Namdang Port in Hongseong, South Chungcheong. You can grill plump daeha on salt and enjoy a hands-on experience catching daeha with your bare hands.
Hongseong County in South Chungcheong said on the 1st that it will hold the Hongseong Namdang Port Daeha Festival from the 4th through Nov. 8 across the Namdang Port area. This year marks the 31st edition.
Namdang Port is a place that attracts tourists every fall who want to taste fresh daeha. Daeha is a low-fat, high-protein food rich in minerals and chitosan, making it a representative fall food.
During the festival, you can taste in-season daeha that have grown plump. Prices for daeha were standardized to reduce confusion among tourists. For 1 kg, takeout is 45,000 won, and eating at a restaurant is 60,000 won.
Not only food but also experiences and performances are prepared. During the festival, there will be a barehanded daeha-catching experience and a tourist singing contest.
On the opening day, the 4th, trot singer Bin Yeseo will take the stage. On the weekend of the Chuseok holiday, a performance by singer Park Hyun-bin is also scheduled.
The atmosphere varies depending on when you visit the festival venue. On the opening day and weekends, tourists may crowd in, so it is better to arrive in the morning if you want to look around at a relaxed pace. If the Namdang Port parking lot is full, you can use the Seobu Township public parking lot.
If you want to enjoy performances and events together, visiting on the first weekend after the opening or on the 26th is an option. If you want to leisurely enjoy the daeha itself while avoiding crowds, weekdays after October are relatively quiet.
After tasting daeha, the fall scenery around Namdang Port is also worth a look.
At the Namdang Port Marine Fountain Park, you can watch a fountain show against the sea, and from the Hongseong Sky Tower, you can take in a panoramic view of the West Sea. The Namdang Sunset Observatory is a good place to visit around sundown.
The charm of a fall outing to Namdang Port is eating daeha, taking a walk in the sea breeze, and then appreciating the sunset over the West Sea.
