A man and woman believed to be an engaged couple were seen blocking part of a lane to take wedding photos in the Namsan Tunnel No. 3 in Seoul, sparking controversy online.
On Sept. 1, photos spread on social media showing a man and woman taking wedding photos inside Namsan Tunnel No. 3.
In the released photos, a white vehicle is stopped in one lane of the two-lane tunnel, and a cone that appears intended to restrict passage is placed behind the vehicle. Along the tunnel wall, a woman in a white dress and a man in a black suit stand side by side.
The poster, identified as A, said, "On the morning of Aug. 25, I spotted an out-of-their-mind engaged couple blocking one lane of Namsan Tunnel No. 3 to take wedding photos in the tunnel."
A said, "I thought there had been an accident because a cone was set up, but the vehicle had been stopped for the shoot," and noted that if they did not obtain a separate road-occupancy permit for the shoot, there could be a potential violation of relevant laws.
A cited provisions of the Road Act and the Road Traffic Act, pointing out that occupying a road without permission, placing objects in a way that obstructs traffic, and stopping a vehicle inside a tunnel could be subject to penalties or fines.
However, based on the photos alone, it was not confirmed whether the shoot actually proceeded without permission from the relevant authorities.
As the photos spread through online communities, criticism from internet users followed. Users reacted by saying, "Was it really a shoot and not a car breakdown?", "Blocking a lane to take wedding photos is too selfish," and "Isn't the studio that conducted the shoot also at fault?"
