A man who went out with fishing gear in Seogwipo, Jeju, and went missing was found dead.
According to the Seogwipo Police Station and the Seogwipo Maritime Police Station on the 29th, a man in his 20s, identified as A, who had gone missing, was found dead at about 3:50 p.m. near the coast by Haye Port in Seogwipo. The Korea Coast Guard, which was conducting the search, found A and recovered the body.
A's family reported him missing to police at about 2:10 p.m. the previous day, saying, "Our son, who works in Jeju, is not answering. It seems he went fishing, and we are worried."
Police checked closed-circuit (CC) TV and confirmed that on the morning of the 27th, A left the residence with fishing gear and drove off. A's car was found near Haye Port.
A is a career soldier assigned to a unit in the Jeju area and was reportedly off duty on the day he went missing.
Police and the Korea Coast Guard are investigating the exact cause of death.
