In Japan's Shimane Prefecture, rice labeled with "Takeshima" for Dokdo is reportedly being sold.
Seo Kyung-duk, a professor at Sungshin Women's University, on the 29th released photos submitted to him on social media (SNS) and said, "Takeshima rice has appeared," adding, "They are making a far-fetched claim by inserting the phrase that Takeshima in Oki District, Shimane Prefecture, is Japan's inherent territory."
On the 2 kg rice sack in the photo, the phrases "Japan Takeshima" (日本國竹島) and "rice from Shimane Prefecture" are written in large letters. Along with a "specially cultivated rice" mark, there is also wording to the effect that "Takeshima in Oki District, Shimane Prefecture, is Japan's inherent territory (Japan)."
Seo also criticized the sale of salt labeled "Takeshima" to domestic and foreign tourists at Yonago Airport in April, and the sale of "Takeshima curry" in the cafeteria of the Shimane Prefectural Government during the annual "Takeshima Day" event on Feb. 22.
Seo said, "Recently in Japan's Shimane Prefecture, it looks like they are accelerating continuous product development to push their sovereignty claim over Dokdo," calling it "truly foolish."
He added, "Japan's Shimane Prefecture must face history and stop making unfounded claims about Dokdo."
