In southern Seoul's Gangnam area, a driver of a high-end imported car who was allegedly intoxicated crashed into a motorcycle and several cars, leaving one person dead and three injured.
According to police on the 28th, the Seoul Suseo Police Station arrested a man, identified as A, on the spot on suspicion of fatal dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes and he is under investigation.
A is accused of causing a six-vehicle pileup at about 11:46 p.m. on the 27th on the road from Bangbae Sageori toward Nambu Terminal Station in Seocho District while driving a Maserati sedan, crashing into one motorcycle and five cars.
The motorcycle rider was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest and later died. Three others, including drivers of other cars, suffered minor injuries.
A preliminary breath test at the scene indicated A was intoxicated, according to police. Police said they plan to investigate A to determine whether alcohol or drugs were involved and to establish the precise circumstances of the crash.
