On Friday the 28th, the country will be mostly cloudy with rain or showers in places. Over the weekend, the rain will expand nationwide, with the potential for heavy rain focused on the southern region.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 27th, it will rain in South Jeolla, South Gyeongsang, and Jeju on the 28th, expanding to the Chungcheong region, North Jeolla, and North Gyeongsang from the morning. Some areas on the Gangwon East Coast and in the mountains will also see rain. Showers are forecast for the Seoul metropolitan area and inland Gangwon between morning and evening.
Expected rainfall on the 28th is 30–80 mm for Busan, Ulsan, South Gyeongsang, Daegu, and North Gyeongsang; 10–70 mm for the Chungcheong and Jeolla regions; and 5–40 mm for Jeju. Showers in the Seoul metropolitan area and inland Gangwon are expected to bring 5–50 mm.
On Saturday the 29th, a low pressure system developing near China's Shandong Peninsula will move toward Korea, bringing rain to most regions nationwide. For the Seoul metropolitan area, the Chungcheong region, and North Jeolla, 20–60 mm is forecast.
On Sunday the 30th, a stationary front is expected to form as cold, dry air descending on the backside of the low collides with warm, humid air from the south.
The Korea Meteorological Administration said that, as of now, there is a high chance of heavy rain in the southern region. It noted that depending on the low's speed, the area of precipitation could expand to the central region.
