Law firm YulChon said on the 25th that it will bring on former Supreme Court justice Park Jeong-hwa (20th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute) as a senior advisor.
Senior advisor Park graduated from the College of Law at Korea University and was appointed a judge in 1991 at the Northern Branch of the Seoul District Court. Park then served as a judge at the Seoul Civil District Court, the Daegu District Court, the Seoul Family Court, and the Seoul High Court, among others. Park also served as a research judge for the Supreme Court's Patent Division and as a standing member of the Supreme Court Sentencing Commission. Park became the first female presiding judge at the Seoul Administrative Court since its opening and also taught as a professor at the Judicial Research and Training Institute.
Park also served as a Supreme Court justice from 2017 to 2023. Park was the fifth female Supreme Court justice in history. Park handled major cases across various fields, including civil, criminal, and administrative. After leaving the bench, Park served as a distinguished professor at the Korea University School of Law and as Chairperson of the Lotte Compliance Committee.
YulChon said, "Through senior advisor Park's extensive trial experience and expertise, including service as a Supreme Court justice, the firm's capacity to respond to major cases will be strengthened." Park's official start date is Sept. 1.
