A former police officer was urgently arrested on suspicion of killing a wife amid a divorce suit.
The Seogwipo Police Station in Jeju said on the 25th that it urgently arrested former police officer A, in his 50s, on suspicion of murder.
According to police and others, A is suspected of stabbing wife B to death with a weapon at a dwellings in Namwon-eup, Seogwipo, and then fleeing. Based on closed-circuit (CC)TV footage and other evidence, police tracked A and arrested the person that morning at a lodging facility in Gyeonggi Province.
A reportedly left a note on the 22nd saying, "I want to die," and disappeared, leading family to file a missing-person report with a police station in Seoul. After that, requests for joint search support were sent to police stations in Gyeonggi Province that A often visited and to the Seogwipo Police Station where B lives. Police found B dead at home the previous afternoon.
Police are questioning A to determine the exact motive and details of the crime.
