A nurse who was holding a family funeral performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation on a citizen who suddenly collapsed at the funeral home, saving the person's life.
Inje University Haeundae Paik Hospital said on the 24th that nurse Joo Seol-hui provided first aid on the 20th to a man who lost consciousness and collapsed in a hallway of a funeral home in Yeosu, South Jeolla.
Nurse Joo, who was holding a family funeral at the time, saw the man collapse and immediately asked people nearby to call 119, then began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Thanks to Joo's first aid, the man regained consciousness and was later reported to have recovered his health.
The story became known after a citizen who witnessed the scene posted a compliment on the hospital's website. The man's family later also contacted Nurse Joo directly to express their gratitude.
Joo said, "All I thought was that I needed to check the person's condition and take action after seeing someone collapse," adding, "I'm grateful to hear that the patient has recovered health."
