A man in his 20s accused of illegally filming patrons after entering the women's changing room at キャリビアンベイ while wearing a short-hair wig (short cut) is facing arrest.
The Suwon District Court held a pretrial detention hearing for a suspect identified as A at about 10:30 a.m. on the 24th on charges of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. A decision on whether to detain is expected this afternoon.
In the morning, A, wearing a cap and a mask, left the Yongin Eastern Police Station and moved to the court. A did not answer reporters' questions about whether the illegal filming charges are acknowledged.
Unemployed A is accused of secretly filming women changing after entering the women's changing room at キャリビアンベイ in Yongin, Gyeonggi, twice—in mid-last month and on the 30th.
At the time of the crime, A wore a short-hair wig, sunglasses and a mask, disguising with an androgynous appearance, was found.
Two victims have been identified so far. Police are conducting forensics on A's mobile phone, compact filming equipment and storage media, and have secured some illegal filming videos. Depending on the forensic results, the number of victims could increase.
In a police interview, A reportedly said, "I filmed out of curiosity to watch alone and did not distribute it externally."
On the 30th of last month, A aroused suspicion from patrons while loitering near the women's changing room, and ran away when a staff member requested an ID. Police urgently arrested A on the 21st, about 20 days after the escape.
