Kim Hee-cheul, a member of the group Super Junior, donated 100 million won to help restore southern regions including Geoje and Tongyeong that were damaged by torrential rains.
Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association said on the 24th that Kim Hee-cheul, after hearing news of flood damage in the South, called the association directly to confirm the donation account and sent 100 million won.
According to the association, Kim Hee-cheul said, "I saw the news that areas across the South were declared special disaster zones and realized the damage was far more serious than expected," adding, "Once I decided to donate, I thought acting without hesitation was the way to fully convey my intention."
He added, "I hope this will help, even a little, the people working on recovery in the scorching heat and neighbors who were affected," and said, "I support everyone to stay strong and return to a peaceful daily life as soon as possible."
The funds delivered by Kim Hee-cheul will be used to support restoration in areas hit by torrential rains, including Geoje and Tongyeong, and to help displaced residents regain their daily lives.
