A man in his 50s was caught by police after driving more than 20 km while drunk and crashing into a tow truck parked on the shoulder.
According to the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency Highway Patrol on the 21st, a man in his 50s, identified as A, is under investigation on suspicion of drunk driving under the Road Traffic Act.
A is suspected of driving an SUV while intoxicated and crashing into a tow truck that was stopped on the shoulder at about 11:10 p.m. on the 20th at the 92-km mark on the northbound Seohaean Expressway in Julpo-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeonbuk.
At the time, the tow truck had reportedly stopped on the shoulder to tow a cargo truck with a damaged tire. The tow truck driver and others were away from the crash site, so there were no casualties.
Police found that A drove more than 20 km from the town center of Gochang to Buan. A's blood alcohol concentration measured at the time of the crash met the level for license revocation.
Police are investigating A to determine the exact circumstances of the crash.
