Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo visited the area around Seongnam Elementary School in Dong-gu at 8:15 a.m. on the 20th to inspect safety conditions along the school route.
On this day, the mayor checked the management status and aging of guard fences in child protection zones and listened to on-site opinions. He also checked the site where an audio guidance assist device for crosswalks is being installed.
In addition, he visited the site of the project to improve the pedestrian environment of the school route under Jaseong-ro and checked the project's progress. The mayor asked on-site officials to ensure safety management and to push the project forward quickly.
Busan City allocated 1.2 billion won for a project to improve lane visibility on major arterial roads in this supplementary budget. In tandem, districts plan to identify sections with heavy traffic that are slippery in the rain or have poor visibility and upgrade them with high-luminance, rain-optimized lane markings. Observers say this will help prevent traffic accidents by improving drivers' visibility at night and in rainy conditions.
Mayor Jeon Jae-soo said, "We will continue to discover tasks that change citizens' daily lives by visiting sites," adding, "We will mobilize all available administrative resources to resolve the tasks identified on-site swiftly and decisively to ease citizens' hardships."
