A man in his 20s accused of attempting to illegally film another student in a men's restroom at Seoul National University of Science and Technology has been sent to prosecutors.
On the 19th, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul said it referred student A at Seoul National University of Science and Technology without detention to prosecutors on the 12th on suspicion of violating the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
A is suspected of attempting to illegally film another male student in a men's restroom inside a building at Seoul National University of Science and Technology in Nowon District, Seoul, in June. The attempt failed, but A reportedly admitted to the charges during police questioning.
Earlier, on May 28, another male student, B, suspected of attempting illegal filming in a women's restroom at Seoul National University of Science and Technology, was caught by police. Last month, police referred B without detention on suspicion of violating the Act on the Punishment of Sexual Crimes. After prosecutors requested supplementary investigation, police have been conducting additional related inquiries.
As attempted illegal filming incidents occurred one after another on campus, the student council at Seoul National University of Science and Technology and the Nowon Police Station conducted a full inspection in mid-June of campus restrooms, showers, and other facilities to check for the installation of illegal filming devices.
