Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo appointed the head of a public institution for the first time since taking office.
Busan City said on the 18th that it appointed Son Ji-hyun, a professor in the department of counseling, therapy and welfare at Silla University, as president of the Busan Social Service Institute.
The city will hold a certificate-of-appointment ceremony around 2:50 p.m. that day in the protocol room on the seventh floor of City Hall. From that day, the new president, Son, will lead the Busan Social Service Institute for three years.
Since March 2015, President Son has continued teaching and research at Silla University. Son is known as an expert in research related to social welfare policy and administration, including community-based integrated care, community social security councils, and public-private partnership foundations.
The new president, Son, said, "We will strengthen our cooperation system with Busan City and welfare and medical institutions to establish an integrated social service delivery system that every citizen can feel," adding, "We will work to continuously identify Busan-style social service models by reflecting welfare big data analysis and the opinions of citizens and the field."
