Global soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo (41, Al Nassr) hinted he may retire at the end of this season.
In an interview with fashion magazine Vogue released on the 17th, Ronaldo said, "This year will probably be my last year as a soccer player."
Ronaldo made his professional debut in 2002 with Sporting (Portugal). He then played for Manchester United (Britain), Real Madrid (Spain) and Juventus (Italy), and is currently with Al Nassr (Saudi Arabia).
As a soccer player, he is one of the greatest of all time, sweeping up championship trophies. For more than 20 years, he scored a staggering 976 goals for both club and national team, as the world's best forward. He also won the Ballon d'Or, the sport's most prestigious award, five times.
Asked about his post-retirement plans, Ronaldo said, "I have already mapped out all my plans for the future," adding, "Because the void left by soccer can be very large, I need to fill my time in various ways, not just with one thing."
He added, "I will enjoy life more, travel often, and play and watch padel (a racket sport) that I really like," and said, "Over the past 25 years there have been many sacrifices, so I want to fully enjoy what I, and we (my family), have accomplished."
