The Korea Football Association said on the 17th that it completed the document screening for the open hiring of the national team head coach and coaching staff.
Accordingly, the football association plans to conduct online interviews this week with candidates who passed the document screening. However, the specific interview schedule may change during coordination with each candidate.
The football association said, "Considering personal information protection and the fact that the screening is still underway, we will not provide detailed guidance on the status of applicants or the personal information of those who passed."
The football association closed applications for the open hiring of an interim head coach on the 9th. The move is to fill the vacancy left by former coach Hong Myung-bo, who stepped down, taking responsibility for Korea's group-stage exit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America. The football association conducted eligibility reviews and result checks for the document stage of the open hiring for the interim head coach and coaching staff over the weekend.
The interim national team head coach to be appointed this time will take charge of six matches in total during two A-match windows to be held in Sept. 9–10 (four matches) and November (two matches).
